Major new features and improvements in the pipeline....

Fellow Shebeeners,

as part of our ongoing mission to make our Shebeen the best and most advanced online community for Namibia I am busy preparing for a major and very exciting upgrade over the next two weeks that will deliver many new features and improvements to existing functionality.

More specifically, the new, improved Shebeen will feature:

Reciprocal Friendships Between Users
As part of our new social networking system, community members will be able to request that people on their buddy list confirm their friendship, after which time a person's list of confirmed friends will be viewable to other users.
Public Messaging
While private messages between users have been widely in use on Shebeen, the upgrade introduces the public messaging system, allowing community members to communicate publicly via their profile pages if they so wish.
User Picture Galleries
Community members will be able to create albums and upload pictures to their account. The ability to view these albums and pictures can be limited by the community member to just other members on their buddy list if they want privacy, or open them up to the general public.
Social Groups
To further social cohesion between community members and to encourage people to make friends, Shebeen will soon include a facility to allow users to create their own social/interest groups. These groups are enhanced by having their own public messaging system, and the ability to add pictures to the group from community member albums.
New Member Profile Page
In order to accomodate all the new features the member profile page will be completely redesigned from the ground up. The new page will present information in a far cleaner and more logical manner, while dividing up information into manageable chunks using a tabbed interface. Individual profile field categories can soon be displayed alone in blocks in the right column, in addition to appearing by default in the 'About Me' tab.
Member Customization of Profile Page
Shebeeners will soon be able to alter fonts, colors, background and borders etc. of their profile page in order to create a more personalised look.

It will also be good to have a pop-up msg while a member browse to let them know another member want them to join them in the chat box...;-)

Shebeeners - I've now completed upgrading our community platform, and will start activating the exciting new features such as social groups, the new profile page, etc..etc.. altogether a major step forward for our site in terms of features and functionality.

You may experience technical problems over the next few days as I resolve a number of issue relating to the look and feel of our site - as well as some others. Your patience and understanding is appreciated. Please do send me a prviate message if you experience any issues so I'm aware of them and can check them out.
