Presidency clarifies reports claiming SA recognises Mugabe

Pretoria - The Presidency has noted reports claiming that South Africa intends to recognise President Robert Mugabe following the recently-held Presidential election run-off in Zimbabwe.

“The Presidency wishes to emphasise that these reports do not emanate from statements made by any official of the South African government,” the Presidency said in a statement on Monday.

FC AK loses to United

FC AK squandered the opportunity of gaining automatic promotion to the top-flight of South African football after going down to Maritzburg United 2-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday in the National First Division promotion play-offs finals. The two sides had earlier played to a one-all draw in first leg played at Eldorado Stadium with Namibian international Costa Khaiseb scoring for AK.

Africa's leaders are grappling with the question of how to treat Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe when he arrives to attend an African Union summit beginning Monday at the Egyptian resort Sharm el Sheik. Reho Falcon beat United 33-31

Reho Falcon came from behind to beat United 33-31 in a thrilling rugby Premier League match at United’s home ground in Olympia on Saturday afternoon.

United seemed to be heading for victory when they took a 31-19 lead halfway through the second half. But Reho Falcon’s flyhalf Melrick Africa scored two great tries in quick succession as Reho snatched victory with five minutes remaining.

Black Africa go third

Black Africa moved up to third position on the log after a thrilling 3-2 victory against Eleven Arrows on Sunday.

In other matches on Sunday, log leaders Orlando Pirates were held to a goalless draw by Blue Waters, Tigers and Fedics played to a 3-all draw and Oshakati City and Mighty Gunners played to a 1-all draw.

At Windhoek’s SKW Stadium Arrows took a 2nd minute lead against Black Africa when Timoteus Iipinge slammed in a clearance from a corner.
