UNITED NATIONS, July 2 (Reuters) - Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and his central bank chief are among those who, under a U.S.-drafted resolution, would face U.N. asset freezes and travel bans over last week's widely criticized election.

US Pushing for New UN Sanctions Against Zimbabwe

A U.S. draft resolution is being circulated at the United Nations that calls for new travel and financial sanctions against Zimbabwe's government in response to that nation's political crisis.

A copy of the draft resolution obtained by VOA calls for freezing the assets and restricting the travel of President Robert Mugabe and 11 other top Zimbabwe government officials. The proposed resolution also seeks to expand an arms embargo against the government.

Pay hikes for metro police officers

Johannesburg – Metro cops are to get a pay hike, after minimum, median and maximum salary bands were increased to be on par with those of the city.
