Hoffmann second in Tour de Korea

Namibian cyclist Erik Hoffmann displayed great form to finish second overall at the Tour de Korea – Japan on Friday, July 4.



Erik Hoffmann finished second at the Tour de Korea on July 4, 2008.

The 10-stage race started in Japan with a prologue on June 21 and then continued with nine other stages in Japan and Korea, covering a total of 1 476km.

Riding against some of the best cyclists in Asia and Europe, Hoffmann finished second overall with a total time of 35 hours 53 minutes 54 seconds, which was 26 seconds behind the winner, Sergey Laguin of Uzbekistan.

The German cyclist, Christoff Meschenmoser of Team Ista came third, 41 seconds behind, while the South African cyclist, Nolan Hoffman of team Neotel, came fourth, 1 minute 13 seconds behind the winner.

Hoffmann started off with a 25th place in the opening prologue on June 21 but then jumped up the leader board when he finished second on the 173km stage one.
From then on Hoffmann consistently finished amongst the leaders, to strengthen his overall second position.

Another Namibian cyclist Petrus Lotto also participated in the tour, riding for Team Neotel.
He came 105th on the prologue and moved up to 91st position after the second stage, before falling out of the race on stage three.
