Orlando Pirates won the 2007/08 Namibia Premier League title when they beat Mighty Gunners 3-1 in Otjiwarongo on Saturday afternoon.
Gunners took an early lead when Sageus Narimab scrambled in a loose ball after only two minutes, but Pirates equalised five minutes later through a great freekick by Johannes Seibeb.
Pirates kept on attacking and went ahead on 26 minutes when Donny Isaacks centred the ball and when Gunners' defence failed to clear it away Paulus Shipanga pounced with a great shot from the edge of the box.
Pirates' substitute midfielder Chepela Chepela made it 3-1 on 67 minutes when Frans de Muinda put him clear from a Klaas Blom corner.
Pirates held out for the win which was wildly celebrated by their 2 000-odd fans at the Mokati Stadium. It was their first league title win since Namibia's independence in 1990 and saw them break Civics' stranglehold on the league title over the past three seasons.
Pirates were awarded the Premier League trophy after the match while they also receive N$500 000.
Civics had a disappointing finish as they were held to a 1-all draw by already-relegated Fedics United at Windhoek's Independence Stadium.
Ashley Jossop gave Fedics an early lead from a freekick, but Civics midfielder Tugela Tuyeni equalised halfway through the half.
Civics bombarded Fedics' goalmouth in the closing stages but couldnt get past Fedics' superb defence, for whom Wickus Pieters, Glenn Wells and goalie Virgil Vries excelled.
Civics finished second on the log and received N$225 000.
Ramblers finished third after drawing 2-all with Cymot SKW.
SKW took the lead through goals by Ralph Ellinger and Arend von Stryk, but Ramblers striker Pineas Jacob pulled one back before the break.
With five minutes remaining Jacob dribbled past two defenders to score scored his second goal with a fine shot from the edge of the box to give Ramblers a share of the spoils and the third placed prize of N$130 000.
Oshakati City stunned Black Africa with a 4-2 victory at the Khomasdal Stadium.
BA took an early lead through Jerome Louis but Oshakti striker Muna Katjipose soon equalised with a fine header.
Muna's brother Tara put Oshakati ahead early in the second half, but Louis once again scored to put the teams level.
Oshakati soon regained the lead through Kleophas Dawid on 53 minutes and Muna added his second and Oshakati's fourth goal on 62 minutes.
In the early match at Khomasdal, African Stars beat Blue Waters 3-0.
Silver Suriyari put Stars ahead on nine mintes and Getzen Ndjiharine made it 2-0 on 34 minutes.
Stars' substitute striker Heinrich Kazerua made it 3-0 on 81 minutes with a spectacular bicycle kick.
At the Kuisebmond Stadium, Eleven Arrows beat Tigers 1-0. Sheya Andimba scored the winning goal on 25 minutes when he latched onto a throughball from Veno Namolo.
