Prowealth’s first team were the overall winners of the Prowealth Corporate Spring Bowls League which was concluded on October 1.

In a tightly fought encounter for the first prize, Prowealth 1 beat M-Web to the title, while the “Runaway Comebacks,” came third overall. They were followed by Pupkewitz, Sanlam, Seeff Properties and Kosmos Trefers and Shell Movers who finished joint seventh.
It was the second year that the competition had taken place and this year it showed steady growth with 23 corporate teams entering in two separate categories.
The matches took place on a weekly basis at the Windhoek Bowls Club and the TransNamib Bowls Club.
Rudi Brand of Prowealth said that the league had been initiated to support the Namibian Bowls Association.
“The Prowealth Corporate Spring Bowls League was started in 2007 with the aim of raising funds for the Namibian Bowls Association to support Namibian bowlers. Namibia is currently ranked 11th in the world and had previously delivered such bowling greats like Douw Calitz who became the world bowls singles champion in 2003,” he said.
What made the prizegiving special and memorable was the fact that all the participants made generous donations, and besides the top three teams, each team won a prize, while there were also lucky draw prizes donated by Radio Kosmos and Santam.
Some of the other prominent companies that competed in this year’s event included Denu Distributors, MTC, Kia Motors, the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre, the Windhoek Municipality, Rennies and Metcalfe Legal Practitioners.
