Ali Nuumbembe raring to go

WBA Pan-African welterweight champion Paulus ‘Ali’ Nuumbembe said he is ready to outsmart his German opponent Daniel Kaefer when the two pugilists trade blows in a non-title bout this Friday.

The event will take place at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino and will be preceded by six other fights on the undercard. Nuumbembe’s 23-year-old opponent Kaefer arrived this week in Namibia with his trainer Uwe ‘Commander’ Schuster.

Nuumbembe to fight German

Namibia’s Pan African welterweight champion Ali Nuumbembe will fight Daniel Kaefer of Germany in the main bout of a boxing bonanza to be held at the Windhoek Country Club on October 17.

Boxing promoter Nestor Tobias said that Kaefer was a good fighter and that the winner could receive a top ten ranking.

Moses preparing for Kobori fight

Namibia’s lightweight champion Paulus “The Hitman” Moses is continuing to prepare for his WBA Lightweight world title fight against Japan’s Yusuke Kobori.

Moses has kept up a tough training regime, which has included regular sparring sessions against the likes of Jason Naule and Ali Nuumbembe.

Moses’ promoter Nestor Tobias said that the title fight would now most probably only take place in October and that Tokyo would be the most likely venue.

Uutoni loses controversially

Namibia’s Japhet Uutoni suffered a controversial defeat to Lukas Maszczyk of Poland on Saturday.

The score was tied at 5-5 at the end of four rounds, but Maszczyk was adjudged to be the winner after a recount.

Although it was not clear how they reached the final decision, the final decision was most probably influenced after cautions against boxers were taken into account.

Mabuza KO’s Naule in third round

Kaizer Mabuza of South Africa retained his WBA Pan African Junior Welterweight title when he beat Namibia’s Jason Naule on a third round knockout.

Mabuza caught Naule on the ropes with a flurry of powerful hooks and uppercuts to knock Naule down to the canvas. An exhausted Naule momentarily raised his head before slumping back down as referee Wally Snowball counted him out.
