Civics assemble strong squad

Having narrowly lost out on the Namibia Premier League title to Orlando Pirates last season, three-time league champions Civics are hoping to bounce back in style to claim an unprecedented fourth league title in the coming season.

Civics have made several new signings while also releasing several players and according to team manager Paul Stramis they are now ready to make a serious challenge for the 2008/09 league title.

Ngatjizeko dropped from Brave Warriors squad

Civics’ midfielder Jamu Ngatjizeko has been dropped from the final Brave Warriors squad to face Kenya on September 6.

Ngatjizeko is the only Brave Warriors player to have played in all their matches so far this year, while he also won the MTC Namibia Sport Player of the Season award and the MTC NFA Player of the Season award.

Ngatjizeko’s team mate at Civics, Brian Brendell is also dropped after being part of the squad for the whole season, as is another regular, Jeremia...

Swaziland win boys soccer gold

Swaziland were the rather fortunate winners of the boys’ soccer competition at the COSSASA Ball Games, after winning two and drawing one of their three matches.

Swaziland won their opening match against Namibia without even kicking a ball, after an administrative blunder by Namibia put paid to their chances. Four Namibian players’ passports were not ready in time and they could not arrange emergency documents in time for the match, resulting in Namibia having to forfeit the match...

Brave Warriors squad preparing for Kenya

Brave Warriors coach Tom Saintfiet has announced a squad of 33 local-based players in preparation for Namibia’s World Cup qualifier against Kenya in Nairobi on September 6.

The players will go into camp on Sunday and start their training camp at the Khomasdal field on Monday. After a week Saintfiet will announce his final squad of 25 players for the Kenya match, which will include Namibia’s foreign-based professionals.

There are several newcomers in the Namibian squad...

Brendell, Baisako off to Switzerland

Brave Warriors wingers Brian Brendell and Jeremia Baisako have left for Switzerland to attend trials with FC Aarau.

FC Aarau is one of the top clubs in the Swiss Super league and finished in fifth position at the end of the 2007/08 season. The Swiss 2008/09 season has already started and Aarau is currently leading the Super League. After six matches they are still unbeaten having won four and drawn two matches.
