Namibia tumbles five places

The Brave Warriors’ 1-0 loss to Kenya in last month’s World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifier has resulted in them going five places down on the Coca-Cola/FIFA rankings released by the world’s football governing body on Wednesday.

The national team has dropped down to 126th in the world rankings. The Warriors did not play any other FIFA-sanctioned match in October apart from the Kenya match which was played in Nairobi on October 6.

Namibia Junior Golf Open

Nedbank Namibia in partnership with the Namibian Junior Golf Foundation will host the annual Namibia Junior Open 2008 final. This prestigious event will be played at the Rossmund Golf Course in Swakopmund on September 13 and 14, 2008.

The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 14 at 12h00 where the best male and female players, the winning region, as well as each player from the winning region will receive trophies as part of their prizes for the event.

Walvis Bay gymnasts excel in SA

Five rhythmic gymnasts from Walvis Bay recently excelled at a rhythmic gymnastics competition in Klerksdorp, South Africa on September 5 and 6.

In the Levels Age Group categories, Asnee Miller, Maria Gawises and Monique Theron all won overall medals.

Gawises won the overall gold medal in the Level 4 U11 category with an average of 8,66 points, while she also scored the highest point of over 30 in her category.

South Africa win Ball Games

South Africa were the overall winners of the Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) Ball Games which ended in Walvis Bay on Saturday.

South Africa won a total of three gold and three silver medals to finish first overall among the four southern African nations who competed in this year’s event.

The annual Under 17 regional tournament is open to all SADC nations but only four managed to make the trip to Walvis Bay this year.
