Unity Games propel Gauteng’s reintegration plans

Johannesburg - Government’s plan to reintegrate foreign nationals displaced during May’s attacks on people from other countries has taken a leap forward in Ekurhuleni.

On Wednesday, residents of the Gugulethu and Everest informal settlements in Springs and the displaced foreign nationals participated in a 1.5 kilometre “unity walk”.

The walk formed part of the Gugulethu/Everest Unity Games, reports the Gauteng Provincial Government.

Pretoria – Legislation is being formulated that will allow for the prosecution of all forms of human trafficking.

“The draft Bill (the Trafficking in Persons Bill) allows for all forms of human trafficking to be prosecuted including labour exploitation and not only sexual exploitation,” said National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA’s) Sexual Offences and Community Affairs (SOCA) Unit, National Co-ordinator, Malebo Kotu-Rammopo.

Repo rate remains unchanged at 12%

Pretoria – Indebted South Africans can temporarily breathe a sigh of relief with the announcement that the repo rate will remain unchanged.

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB)’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to keep the interest rate unchanged at 12 percent following its two-day meeting.
