Pretoria -The Tshwaraganang Community Project in Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria, on Wednesday received a donation of R10 000 from the South African Post Office.
Run by Kathryn Sepato the Tshwaraganang Community Project is a non-profit initiative which cares for 17 boys and girls. The centre also feeds more than 100 children daily from child-headed households in the area.
These children range from toddlers to teenagers and all have lost their parents and have no family to turn to.
The donation forms part of the Post Office's Men's Month, which also has more than 40 male employees rolling up their sleeves to do manual labour in order to improve the Tshwaraganang community centre.
This work ranges from painting buildings, to digging a large vegetable patch, to laying a floor for a storeroom and painting around the project.
Speaking to BuaNews on Thursday Ms Sepato was unable to fully express her gratitude.
She said the donation will go a long way in addressing the traume the children in the home have faced.
"I am so happy, with the money I will make sure that my kids have jerseys, shoes, extra blankets and get healthy vegetable soups this winter," said the excited Ms Sepato.
She told BuaNews that with the rest of the money they will buy additional electrical appliances and fix the centre's old door.
"Life is tough this side but thanks to organisations like the Post Office these children are able to face the next day."
Post Office's Head of the Courier and Freight division Molefe Mathibe said: "One of the values we do business by, is to contribute positively to the communities in which we do business." - BuaNews
