SADC admit power sharing document was fraudulently altered

SADC Secretary General Tomaz Salomao has finally admitted the power sharing deal signed on the 15th September was fraudulently altered before the signing ceremony and different from the one agreed to by the parties on the 11th September.

The Tsvangirai MDC initially raised the concerns in an interview with Newsreel in early October, complaining that ZANU PF had doctored the agreement to alter certain clauses in the document that was to be signed a few days...

Finance Minister Trevor Manuel is among 11 Cabinet ministers and three deputy ministers who have resigned.

President Thabo Mbeki had received their letters of resignation, "which, regretfully, he has had to accept", the Presidency said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Cabinet members who have resigned include Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, who earlier in the day announced her decision...

Pretoria - Markets remain calm and almost unperturbed by the announcement of the resignation of President Thabo Mbeki delivered in a televised address on Sunday evening, say economists.

"The markets look pretty good at the moment, with the All Share up about 2 percent, the Rand is stable at R8 to the Dollar and bond markets are also stable," economist at Econometrix Treasury Management (ETM), Russell Lamberti told BuaNews, Monday.

Pretoria - President Thabo Mbeki has thanked South Africans for giving him the opportunity to serve them in the past ten years.
