Mafikeng – The North West Department of Local Government and Housing has awarded tenders worth R234 million, to five women in the construction industry, to build 6 000 low-cost houses.

One of the recipients, Thandi Poncana, 29, is the owner of a company called KeeWave Developers based in Klerksdorp at the Matlosana Local Municipality.

Women in senior govt positions grows slowly

Pretoria – Government has not made its targets of employing more women in the Senior Management Service, says Minister of Public Services and Administration Geraldine Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi.

The percentage of women in senior management positions grew by a low 2 percent between March 2007 and March 2008, according to Persal data.
