Terra-Rouge, meaning, “red earth”, is a sheep and cattle farm in the Kalahari desert, close to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, where only a few decades ago, bushmen used to live. A good stopover to learn how to experience how to make a living in the arid desert with little water and long distances to travel. Stay with the family in a big farmhouse that serves as a guesthouse or choose a chalet further away under huge camelthorn trees.
Our luxurious rooms are all en-suite, each with it’s own entrance, air conditioned (heated for winter), mini-bar, coffee/tea facilities and equipped for self catering, for guests who wants it. Each room has its own theme, all with down feather duvets and percale linen. Guests are welcome to use the lounge and garden.
We have the ‘Meerkat Manor campsite” on the dry bed of the Auob river with hot -water showers, flush toilets and a magnificent view over the dunes and trees. Enjoy relaxing starlit evenings around the fire and get a taste of our own organically produced meat.
