The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has handed over information and communication technology and audio-visual equipment valued at over 500-thousand dollars to the Kavango Regional Council on Monday.
The equipment is to be used at the Community Multi-Purpose Centre at Rundu. It includes computers, printers, a public address system, a flatscreen television, data projection screens, compact disc players, solar panels and a generator.

At the event, Permanent Secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Mbeuta Ua-Ndjarakana reiterated the government's commitment to make information and communication technology accessible to all citizens in the country.

Ua-Ndjarakana said the provision of information communication and technology should be regarded as part of the efforts to bring government services closer to the people as per the decentralisation policy.

He stressed that only when people were well informed and educated, would they be able to take informed actions and decisions. The Permanent Secretary also urged the Regional Council to ensure that the community made full use of the equipment.
