| How about replacing the current patronage system of political appointment of cronies with areal democratic electotoral system. Since first, in our perculiar system they function as bureaucrats--ministries' head as oppose to the conventional political--liason for the executive branch, they may as well voted into position by voters. Second, SWAPO may be in power for ever therefore its rulers are all the people's leaders anyway. |

| Dude, firing is out of question. The government is mainly the job provider. If it fires then it again is responsible for the alleviation of unemployment??? While the military does not belong to Namibia but to SWAPO and labor unions and all are SWAPO's possessions, there could be no meaningful market economic growth to loosen-up government involvement in all. SWAPO has for the moment focused on using the national wealth to create a middle class. This could be alright if it is transparently done and a portion of the budget is allocated for it. But not through siphoning and laundaring. This is expected to grow substantially and begin to contract from the government in the form of SOE's and parastatals. That in due course would help take over the employment and other lesser functions from the govt. Mind you, Cuba and N.Korea role models. Last edited by phelakuti; 12th April 2008 at 06:56 AM. |
