Post Things to see and do in Namibia

Sponsor's Message
What does a visitor to Namibia have to see and do to be able to say that he/she has truly experienced our country?

Cool Cape Cross

Behold the amazing spectacle of 70,000 Cape fur seals at Cape Cross.

Default Hike in the fish River Canyon

Must do - breathtaking landscapes and nature. Tough, but if you come fit and well-equipped this is very enjoyable and unforgettable, especially if some water is left from the rainy season in rock pools.

Thumbs up Skydive in Swakopmund

it's cheap and Swakopmund jumping over the namib desert spectacualt. You can see the ocean far as the eye can see, a natural high from 10 000! A must.

Some could come to see for themselves that Africa had not only evolved from the era of "Tarzan-like" jungle and HIV/AIDS epidemic, but that national states here gradually aspire the modern sophistication of modern western giants and their technological evolutions. Other need to come to behold the juxtaposition of western and African cultures harmonious coexistence in an African setup. For there are those who had seen us only from western media bias and stereotypical perspective. For instance, the US media continue to portray the entire African continent in such an awkwardly and unrelenting harsh manner. Only recently had one of the major magazine (Ebony) in the US had gathered enough courage to convince publishers to somewhat relent.

I think that's where our Shebeen can play an important role: Show the world we're at the cutting edge, too, at least when it comes to the Internet....We may nnot yet have the high number of broadband users, or PC's in people's homes, but the growth is steady and it';s just a matter of time....

During my trips around the country I have managed to amass photos of MOST scenic parts of Nam and have a pretty good idea of what to see , etc. Although I would recommend a tour-guide/tourism office, but if these are too expensive for "back-packers", for instance, I can try and help out.

Also remember the Namibia Tourism Board (061 290 6000). They are also in London and Frankfurt and cape Town, I think.......... The staff there has always been very helpful! They often go out of their way to help people.
