Certain SWAPO Party leaders are allegedly deeply implicated in machinations to expel the Principal of the Etalaleko Secondary School at the town of Okahao in the Ongandjera tribal area in the Omusati Region, human rights monitors in the said region reported on Saturday. The expulsion of the said principal, a certain Lameck Shilongo, also referred to as “Kamunyengo”, was the subject of the rally, which was held at the headquarters of the Ongandjera Traditional Authority at the town, which human rights monitors also attended.

Namibia’s National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) calls upon the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to urgently investigate whether or not self-enrichment and or conflict of interest as well as influence peddling were not at play in the acquisition by SWAPO Party Secretary General Ms. Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana of a lucrative permit to sell meat to Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) outlets in the Etosha National Park. The meat is mainly bought from subsistence farmers north of the so-called Red Line.

NSHR is deeply concerned about credible allegations of irregularities in the recruitment and appointment of candidate registration officers and or their assistants for the supplementary registration of the voters at the newly proclaimed town of Omuthiya. The voters will take part in the upcoming elections of the local authority for the town. Omuthiya is situated in the Oshikoto Region, some 80 kilometers southeast of the town of Ondangwa.

A male SWAPO Party activist dressed in his party’s colors yesterday stabbed a policewoman, Constable Hilma Nakumbwata (age unknown) of Onayena village, with a knife in the stomach, human rights monitors in the Oshikoto Region reported. The incident occurred at the town of Omuthiya soon after SWAPO Party Secretary General Ms. Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana and Oshikoto Regional Governor Penda ya Ndakolo addressed a SWAPO Party election rally at the town.
