Question Development responsibility

Katima Mulilo Residents are ever crying for development in their town, and ever pointing fingers to the Town council, but what can the Town Council do if Them the community does not want to cooperate! They are ever complaining about litter around the town- But who dumps the litter around town- is it the Town Council members or the community itself? There were waste bins donated to the town but still they were not used! People should stop complaining and be part of the activities that bring changes to their town!

Thumbs up Spot on!

Riana - you've hit the nail on the head. There is generally to much complaining and too little taking responsbility and action by our city's and town's residents. I think laws should be introduced that allow town councils to issue spot fines to people that litter or otherwise disrespect the infrastructure and environment of our towns and cities. That my just become a revenue stream for the town councils, just like parking fines. It's being done all over the world - why not Katima Mulilo and other towns/cities in our country?

It is always sad to see that people just don't care to do their part to create a sense of community by participating in the creation of successful communities. They stand stand by and moan and groan but do little, if anything.

Default Agreed!

Spot fines will make people think twice and may alter their behaviour! I'm for it.

Default Re: Katima Mulilo

I agree with fines for littering - it should be brought in here in england too. Parking fines in Katima?? they will be very busy indeed, especially on pay day.
My folks live just outside Katima, and I can honestly say, Katima is an experience never to be forgotten...lol
Katima and the whole Caprivi could be a great tourist attraction which would bring in much revenue for the people, but the town does need to be cleaned up a bit.
